April 22, 2021
Linda Barclay, cofounder everactiv talks to 3 X consecutive British Triathlon champion, Isla Britton.
She is only 18 years old but has many years of triathlon under her belt. She lives and trains in Scotland and since her move up to Junior elite international racing, she competes for Canada. She talks about:
How she got started in triathlon at the age of 7;
How she got off to a rocky start;
How she stays motivated (throughout the years, lockdown and coming out of lockdown);
The past and what it is like racing and training at a young age compared to now. The jump from Regional competition, to National, to International;
The importance of mental strength and how she has coped with it in sport and in her personal life. She mentions having been through some significant adversity in her life, this is not explored in the video but she has been through quite a number of serious hardships over the last five years, with the most traumatic being the lose of her brother, who died in the night from a seizure, when she was 13 years old.
